Description

Mix color by exact fractions, every time. This set is built so each shape is exactly half the size of the one before it: a square = your whole part, then triangles at 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 of that square. Cut your clay with them and your color recipes measure out precisely, with no eyeballing and no scales.

What’s Included: 11 Cutters
6 single cutters (one shape each): the whole square, and triangles at 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 of it.
5 multi cutters (several pieces in one press, to cut more clay at once):

  •        1 (whole): 4 squares
  •        1/2: 8 triangles
  •        1/4: 4 triangles
  •        1/8: 8 triangles
  •        1/16: 16 triangles

The shapes cut by each multi cutter are the same size as the matching single cutter, so you can use singles and multis interchangeably in the same recipe.

Choose Your Size – or Get Both & Save!
Pick the 65 mm or 90 mm version when you order. The number is the width of the whole layout, and every cutter in the set scales together, so the proportions stay exact.

  • 65 mm set: the single square cutter (the whole part) is approx 28 mm along each side. This is the dimension of the cut clay.  The smallest cutter is the 1/32 triangle, with 7 mm legs, the 2 shorter sides.  You can see this set in my hand in the listing image. I prefer to work with this size so my blends don’t get too big.
  • 90 mm set: the single square cutter (the whole part) is approx 39 mm along each side. This is the dimension of the cut clay.  The smallest cutter is the 1/32 triangle, with 9.7 mm legs, the 2 shorter sides.

Choose 90 mm if you like larger pieces and an easier-to-handle 1/32 triangle. Choose 65 mm for a compact set that uses less clay. Dimensions are the cutting size, the shape the clay takes. The comfort handle at the base adds to that.

Precisely Engineered
Each triangle is exactly half the area of the one before it, and the 1/2 triangle is exactly half the square. These cutters are designed for color mixing, but they work beautifully for mosaics and tile work too.

Mark Your Cutters
I recommend marking each cutter as soon as it’s printed. A permanent marker or paint pen on the base works well. Marking each with its fraction is useful but not as important. Each is visually identified as being smaller than the next. It’s more important that the set be indentified. That way, if a piece ever ends up on its own in your studio, you’ll know straight away it belongs to this special set.

Use With Any of Our Color Recipes
These cutters work with every one of our color recipes. Our recipes provide both the grams and parts methods so you can use either. These cutters make the parts method a lot easier. Measure by cutters instead of by guesswork.

Why There’s No 1/32 Multi Cutter
A recipe that calls for 1/32 needs one tiny pinch of color, not a batch. It will never call for more than 1 of these. The 1/32 is included as a single cutter in your set, where it’s easy to place and push out. Need extra 1/32 pieces? The 1/16 triangle, cut exactly in half gives you 2. Make one straight cut from its right-angle corner to the middle of its long edge. You get two exact 1/32 triangles.

A Blade Built for Clean Cuts

  • A super sharp 0.4 mm cutting edge for clean, smooth cuts
  • 14 mm tall, with a thicker base for blade strength
  • No steps on the blade wall that could distort your clay

Printing Recommendations
To print the sharp edge, turn on Arachne walls (or Detect thin walls, depending on your slicer). These are example settings, and results vary by printer and filament. I’m not able to provide slicer advice.  The pictured cutters used BambuLabs PETG Translucent. But only because I had that loaded. I usually print my cutters with their basic PLA and it handles the sharp cutting edges perfectly, using the workhorse .4 mm nozzle and the cutters perform as intended!
